Day 2 Erasmus + Volos, Greece

Our day started in school with our students arriving in their uniform to a flood of interest and questions about their attire and what all the logos and pins mean. They were complimented on their uniform and the girls were very proud to wear them and tell the Greek students and teachers about it.

All foreign students were taking photos of our students in their uniform- They were like celebrities!
Maisie, Zoha and Cassidy presented on Stantonbury to the Greek students. They spoke confidently and were very proud to share our school values which subsequently became the main focus of a drama activity which took place later in them morning.
Both Cassidy and Zoha introduced themselves in Mandarin while Maisie spoke in German. There was a teacher's coordinators meeting where we discussed the dissemination of the project, eTwinning and our future visits. School here starts at 8:00 am and finishes early afternoon.

Students performed drama pieces about bullying and discrimination as per the title of our project "Don't Bully me, Don't Discriminate me, include me" They finished with a song Knocking on Heaven's door by Eric Clapton played by one of the Greek students.
We travelled by bus to the city centre where we had a visit to the town hall and learned about Myths and Legends of the Volos bay and watched a video of a reenactment of the Argos boat which the town is famous for.
At the Town Hall conference room with our Partners from Greece, Estonia, Spain, Czech Republic and Poland.

We then continued on to the Volos pottery/clay factory where we learned about a industry that was very important during the early years of Volos life. After our tour students returned to their host families for lunch and an afternoon with families. Teachers continued to have a typical Greek late lunch.

One of the many fishing boats. Fishing boat are our early morning to bring in the catch for the markets when they open.
Volos, Greece is beautiful. The people are very friendly and our school hosts are caring and attentive. The temperature today was 21 degrees and the sun was shining. The city is situated directly on the bay surrounded by mountains. The atmosphere in school is upbeat and positive and the students are very welcoming. We should all adopt some aspects from the Greek lifestyle as it is a real inspiring and relaxed culture.
