Day 1 of our Erasmus + Visit to Volos, Greece.
After an extremely long journey we arrived in Volos very late, or rather early depending on how you look at 3am!
We were met by host families and our three students quickly disappeared with the lovely families.
In the morning, early, we arrived at the school. We were greeted by many students wanting to talk to the Erasmus Group. We had a short tour and watched the assembly from the Greek students. They entertained us with many different traditional dances.
With the minister of Education for the Volos region.
The Headteacher of the school
Following this each country presented their traditional dance and song. Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, Estonia and us- UK. What traditional dance could we possibly have presented? Well we focused more on pop culture and how it connected to the is project of inclusion. We chose "Strawberry Fields" by the Beatles because it is a song about John Lennon's upbringing and the time he spent at the Strawberry Fields orphanage. Maisie did us very proud by dancing and showing off her Performing Arts skills. She was fantastic!.
We then had presentations, made soap with olive oil, had lunch and went the Volos 10 stories history museum.
Here are some more photos of the day.

Making traditional soap
Zoha had this to say about her day:
Today was a very informative day. I learnt quite a lot. I
didn’t just learn about Volos or Greece though, I learnt about many things. One
of them is cultural breakfast. I learnt about so many different cultural
breakfast. Eg: one of Spain’s was potatoes with sauce on it and Greece had
bagels. Not only that, we got to see different traditional dances as well.
Today I learnt something that I would almost even call a life skill. We learnt
how to make natural, organically homemade soap using two different oils.
Overall it has been a great experience so far and very educational.
